THE 4th INTERNATIONAL
DANCE FILM FESTIVAL 2008

in Yokohama

The culture of dance video / dance film is still an emerging genre in most of East Asia. The International Dance Film Festival has been the first in Japan to promote this art form between and with dance and moving images. The festival will present a selection of contributions that are generated from an international call for participation. For the first time, the festival will also screen a selection of the POOL 07, Berlin's leading dance film festival which is organized by Dock 11 Berlin (curator: Hiroko Tanahashi).

Dance and Media Japan is the leading platform to promote the relationship between dance and media arts. DMJ organizes workshops,
lectures, symposiums to foster interdisciplinary works. DMJ increasingly offers educational / training projects all over the world
- most recently in Ireland, Germany and France.
Festival director as well as director of Dance and Media Japan is Naoto IINA. He has invited as fellow jurors the interdisciplinary performing arts unit "post theater [new york / berlin / tokyo]" (Hiroko Tanahashi and Max Schumacher").
There will be an interdisciplinary program accompanying the dance film screenings. The program will be posted in January.Dear POOL 07 finalists,

 

We are happy to inform you that your entry to POOL 07 will be shown in THE 4th INTERNATIONAL DANCE FILM FESTIVAL 2008 in Yokohama, Japan on Feb. 16th 2008.

 

POOL has established a collaboration with THE 4th INTERNATIONAL DANCE FILM FESTIVAL 2008 and decided to present 7 works from the 2007's official selection. This selection was made by Hiroko Tanahashi, one of the three jury members of POOL 07. Hiroko will be representing POOL 07 in Yokohama.

 

Since the THE 4th INTERNATIONAL DANCE FILM FESTIVAL 2008 is entirely a not-for-profit organization, no royalties can be paid, neither do the jurors / curators receive any fees.
