Martijn Joling

Martijn teaches contemporary dance training with a main focus on floor work. His movement vocabulary is influenced by various backgrounds such as Breakdance, Judo and Release-Technique.
The warm up is focused on creating awareness of the body in connection to the ground. By guiding the participants to move into and out of the floor we will be activating our relationship between the centre of the body and the floor.
With the help of different exercises in groups, with a partner and individually, we will study various ways to fall and roll, lift and direct our bodies into space. We will practice the use of spirals in order to improve our understanding of how we can leave and enter the floor in more quick and efficient ways.
The last part of the class consists of a physical and dynamic movement phrase which explores a quick, grounded movement language supported by the release of tension in the body.
