Ligia Manuela Lewis

Moving through physical conditions this class will take a very physical approach to understanding the mechanics of the body and the pleasure of being in motion. Influenced by various established practices (ie yoga, release technique, feldenkrais method, crumping, wacking, body mind centering) and life this class will evolve from working on a detailed awareness of the body towards a magnified, hyperactive and hyperspecific movement exorcism. We will be called upon to use our imaginations, desire, and commitment as the class will unfold as a sort of experiment in experiencing the body at work.

Ligia Manuela Lewis is a dance artist currently residing in Berlin(DE). She recieved her B.F.A in Dance/Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2005 and upon graduating moved to Europe. She has performed/collaborated with the following: theater company Superamas(FR),dance company Les Ballets C de la B(BE), Christoph Winkler(DE), Lewis Forever(Berlin/NY) , Kat Valastur-adlibdances(GR/DE), Martin and Hansen(AU), Anat Eisenberg(IS/DE) and Mirko Winkel(DE). She was awarded the DanceWEB scholarship (AT) for 2010. She has co-authored two works a call for empathy and you first then me.
