The class follows a somewhat familiar trajectory, a thorough warm up focusing on the movement potential of the joints; dynamicised through variations in muscularity and spatio-temporal context. Further structured improvisations aim to develop an immediacy within spontaneous performance that actively challenges habits and pre-conceived notions of the choreographed body. The class culminates with phrase work, the point of research here is the act of interpretation, of translation from my body and its training and history onto yours.

 

Martin Hansen studied at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia. In Australian Martin performed with Chunkymove, Not Yet Its Difficult and Hydra Poesis, touring throughout most of the english speaking world. In Europe Martin performs with Christoph Winkler as well as making his work work that has been presented in Berlin, Dusseldorf, Warsaw, Salzburg and Melbourne.
