Gabriel Galindez Cruz
Through a deep work of body consciousness, we explore the potential of our own breathing as the essential motor for movement: activating deep muscles, optimizing the connection of our weight to the floor and awaikening the skin to the surrounding space . Once the body is open, alert and present, these principles are applied in different exercises and combinations of fluid movement.
Berlin based choreographer and dancer. Gabriel was part of the Toula Limnaios Company in Berlin, the Staatstheater St. Gallen in Switzerland and he has collaborated as a dancer at Eastman-Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui , Grayson Millwood, Juan Kruz Diaz de Garaio Esnaola, Wilhelngroener and the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin.
Since 2005 Gabriel has been part of the Sasha Waltz & Guests Company: as a dancer in several international productions and as a choreographer with the Children’s Dance Company.
As a choreographer and teacher he searches for the expansion of the own boundaries encouraging the self-discovery through challenging tasks. He has a created several pieces that have participated in festivals, such as “Invisible” in the Plataforma Festival Berlin, “AIUAIO” which was awarded “Jeunes Talents du Cirque Europe”, and recently “Undo Mudra” in the Masdanza Festival in the Canary Islands-Spain and the Dance Festival of Bogotá-Colombia.
Presently, Gabriel is focusing on choreographing chamber and symphonic concerts for classical and contemporary music. In collaboration with the conductor Andres Orozco-Estrada, he has presented Stravinsky's “The Rite of Spring” with the Colombian Youth Philharmonic and "Petrushka" with the Houston Symphony Orchestra.
