Tuan Ly

This class aims to create a space for embodied research, creative exploration and technical investigation.
Through set exercises and improvisation tasks, the dancers are invited to connect to their innate spontaneity and playfully tune into a sense for composition and articulation.
We will move, stretch, workout, and play.
To guide us through our practice, each day will focus on a different theme including somatic elements, partnering and choreographic tools.
This will lead into a variety of dance material, combinations and phrase work to further explore physical range, movement textures and dynamics.

Tuan was born in Germany and is a London-based dancer.

He holds an MA in Dance Practice from London Contemporary Dance School and joined Maresa Von Stockert's Tilted Productions from 2014-2018.
Tuan is currently part of composer Heiner Goebbels’ performance ‘Everything that Happened and would Happen’, which is on tour in 2019.

Previously, he has trained and performed in physical theatre from 2006 - 2013 working in the UK with companies such as New International Encounter, Moonfool and touring in productions by Kasia Zaremba-Byrne.
He has danced in works by Gary Clarke (UK), Rui Xu (CN), Willi Dorner (AT), Janine Harrington (UK), Yotam Peled (IL/DE), amongst others.

Teaching and choreography credits include work at Kampnagel Hamburg (DE), JES Stuttgart (DE), The Place London (UK), 3CL - Centre de Création Chorégraphique Luxembourg, St. Mary's University (UK) and the University of Surrey (UK).
