Dance Sessions On the edge of the Champeta
The Champeta, Dance and Afro-Caribbean Music born in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, represents the cadence, sensuality and creativity of a people that through its body and its movement narrates its own reality and its resistance.
In this workshop we will approach the different qualities of movements that the champeta has: fluidity, vibration, undulation, fragmentation; to enter a state of trance in which the body experiences different energies and forces, the animal, the feminine, the masculine. We will also work through sequences of movements that contain the imaginary and gestural vocabulary that has been created through time with these champetuos rhythms: Soukos, Soca, Calipso, Cumbia, Mapalé, these last traditional Colombian rhythms that are the living heritage of the European, African and American syncretism.
Come and enjoy these sessions of music and movement, which will take you on a journey of pure joy, to discover an expressive body that relates to others and is released through contact with dance.
