Seki Method Intensive Workshop 2012
Seki Method Intensive Workshop 2012 4 weeks of training and creating performance in EDEN*****-Studios Berlin. This Intensive Workshop is based on the Seki Method and will be supplemented by guest teachings African Dance and Body & Voice plus by a Healing Weekend including natural treatments and macrobiotic cuisine. The workshop will conclude with a public presentation at EDEN***** on the last day.

1. Seki Method
The Seki Method is based on simple essential principles of nature and physics, and their transformation into the dancing body. We work with the TanDen, centre of the body and origin of energy and movement. Likewise Perception and Imagination are important aspects. We improvise with single, couple and group exercises to become aware of compositions and constellations in space, to establish an outer and inner awareness and to enlarge the presence of our body. Soon we will focus on creation, learning a technique to discover choreographic potential of every moment. Under the direction of Minako Seki we will develop a one hour performance.

2. Body & voice
We explore our voice in all its expressions and sounds, regardless of aesthetic standards. We examine the relationship between voice and body as well as voice and consciousness, leaving the beaten track of how we know our voice and are accustomed to using it. Playful group work opens a wide field to experience our own voice.

3. African dance
In African Dance we find a strong connection and friendship to the earth. Naturally using the re-bounce of our weight, it teaches us some precious basics for movement. Going with the flow of the rhythms new energy emerges endlessly. Class will be accompanied by live percussion.

4. Healing Weekend
Our body is confronted by many poisons in daily life. Our organs, such as intestines, liver, kidney and skin are working hard to clean our body all the time. This often makes us tired. Our nutrition is a big aspect of cleaning or poisoning ourselves. The alkaline diet (macrobiotic) is cleansing and lightening our body, so that we can build up and keep a good energy level. Our emotions are closely connected to the state of our body. Cleaning the body is freeing our mind as well. When we understand how our body and mind work, we can make them stronger. With self-made Japanese treatments we support and nourish our body and mind. You can cure smaller sicknesses and even serious diseases as cancer with macrobiotic food and treatments. We will spend almost four days in the countryside, taking time and distance from the city to care for ourselves and to prepare ourselves for the last intensive week and performance. Gut Reichenow is a cultural center for artists and events and a collective of alternatively living people. We can go there by S-Bahn and Bus or by bike. We will live in shared rooms (some for couples and some for small groups) with a big studio, big kitchen, big bath with bath tubs and separate toilets and showers. The countryside is beautiful and there is a small lake nearby where we can swim.
