Ballett & Jazz Workshop
This workshop offers a unique combination of ballet and jazz, suitable for intermediate/advanced dancers from all areas of dance.
Class description ballet:
The class begins with a slow warm-up at the barre leading into more complex combinations in the center. The focus on musicality and breath throughout the entire class offers a stress-free training by following the musical phrases and rhythm.
Chizu Kimura was born in Japan and trained at the Legat School of Dance and London Studio Centre (UK) before joining the Vienna Festival Ballet in 2002. As a freelance dancer she has worked with Trisha Brown, Sebastian Eilers, Michael Rooney, Bettina Owczarek and Lise Lønsmann. She moved to Berlin in 2005 and has been teaching ballet and contemporary here since 2009.
Class description jazz:
The class begins with a thorough warm-up including technical exercises preparing body and mind for choreographic challenges. The style is energetic and up-tempo with focus on flow and integration of the technical basis as a tool to obtaining greater freedom of movement.
Danish choreographer and teacher Lise Lønsmann has been teaching jazz, contemporary, show and hip hop since 1997. She trained at schools in London, Munich, Paris etc. and started creating her own works in 2002, founding her contemporary dance company RØRSTRØMSK in 2006. She has been living in Berlin since 2008.
