Maya Matilda Carroll is a choreographer, dancer, teacher, based in Berlin, making independent work since 2004. Her work ranges between set choreography and directed improvisation, evolving from an interplay between reality and fantasy, human conditions and relationships. Working in Germany and Europe she has been making dances and performing her work in state theaters, independent venues and alternative spaces. Her classes and workshops offer an exchange and research vehicle, exploring composition through improvisation and choreography. In 2011 Maya formed The Instrument; an artistic structure standing for her independent and collaborative work with her partner- composer Roy Carroll. Since 2012 she has been collaborating with director and choreographer Julyen Hamilton. www.theinstrument.org

Paolo Cingolani is a dancer and movement trainer based in Ancona (IT).
He was born in Italy in 1977. He has practiced martial arts and Tai-Ji Qi Gong since he was young. After completing a degree in Anthropology (Rome, 2004) he became fascinated by dance and the ability to create art through movement. His dance formation was intense, disciplined, and passionate. Passing through contact-improvisation, release technique and memorized choreography he focused his interest on improvisation and Instant Composition.
Since 2012 he has been part of the Allen's Line Company of Julyen Hamilton, with whom he is sharing principles, practices and artistic vision. Allen's Line has recurrently presented its productions in Berlin, Brussels, Paris, Strasbourg and Oslo.
In the last years he has also dedicated himself to the diffusion of improvisation through continuous collaborations with other artists, dancers, musicians and visual designers. In this freelance context, he has performed in Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland and Greece.
As a teacher, he has developed a personal body’s technique resulting from the integration of Tai-Ji with other principles of contemporary dance. He also has a refined knowledge of the laws of the instant composition specifically for the creation of performances and poetry of movement. He has taught at various dance improvisation festivals in Europe as well as the US. www.paolocingolani.com
