FLOATERS ist eine Trilogie für sieben Tänzer, welche die Themen Identität und Entfremdung des menschlichen Seins aufgreift und die subjektive Wahrnehmung der Realität darstellt. Vorausgegangen ist dieser Umsetzung eine Recherche über die geistigen Mechanismen der Projektion als ein bedeutendes Instrument der Empathie und der Identifikation. Die Choreographie macht die Komplexität unseres Bewusstseins anhand der Struktur der Performance sichtbar. Es geht um ein Phänomen, bei dem sich die Grenzen zwischen dem Selbst und dem Anderen, dem Inneren und dem Äußeren auflösen. Es finden Verschmelzungen und Verwechslungen statt - zwischen dem Subjekt, den Anderen und jedem weiteren Objekt im Raum. Es wird eine paradoxe und rigorose Struktur erschaffen, in welcher sich das Wesen fortwährend verliert, während es versucht, eine neue, in sich geschlossene und bedeutsame Wirklichkeit zu entwickeln, in der es überleben kann. Die Dramaturgie bewegt sich dabei konstant von einem energetischen Bild zum nächsten. Sie bezieht sich auf eine unverlässliche Folge von Ereignissen, welche das Publikum in das Stück integrieren und die sich entwickelnde Realität ständig neu definieren soll. Die drei in einander verwobenen Teile der Performance verstärken die verwirrende Ungewissheit der Wahrnehmung und ihre fortlaufende Unbeständigkeit.

FLOATERS is a trilogy that articulates the subjective perception of the reality, referring to the thematic of identity and alienation of human being. The work explores the mental mechanism of projection that is an essential mechanism of empathy and identification.
The choreography reveals the complexity of our consciousness through the structure of the piece, the phenomenon in which there is a loosening of boundaries between self and non-self, inner and outer, and a fusion or confusion with the others as well as with any object in the space. I create a paradox rigorous structure where the being will be incessantly lost trying to generate a new reality in order to survive and create a contained referral world.

This project explores archetypes of the Soul; specifically the four major patterns: The Child, The Victim, The Prostitute and the Saboteur; and the concepts of individuation and integration, between them. The project is grounded in the theory that we traverse a series of experiences and create characters, personas, tendencies that we repeat and recreate without being conscious. What if one of us wakes up and sees the game board and all players? Would that awakening bring the individual home and all of the parts into one? Would the lessons, skills, experiences be learned, integrated and the density released? I have conceived of this piece as a playground with many people playing different roles and creating scenarios that anyone could relate to journeys – some overlap, some written into the future, others dark and light hands clutching a silver thread woven into a tapestry of tears. Beyond state there is a consciousness that tills that soil. Each collaboration is a specific process of self- inquiry and conversation. (plus a lot of grace.)

Multi disciplinary performer artist and choreographer. Graduated in French Dance National Dance school, she studied with Regine Chopinot, Mathilde Monnier and Catherine Diverres among other great artists in Europe. She’s been performing internationally with numbers of companies as Faustin Linyekula, Companie Allias, Sara Shelton Mann, La ALTERNATIVA, Tino Sehgal, Nita Little and more recently Katie Duck.Her recent works has been seen performed at Movement research-New York City, ODC-San Francisco, Dock 11- Berlin and will be seen at the Whenever wherever Festival-Tokyo.

Notable collaborations in dance include the work of Sara Shelton Mann, Hope Mohr Dance Company, AVYK, Leslie Seiters, Katie Duck, whom he toured and performed with from 2004, the Amsterdam based MAGPIE Music Dance Company, Wally Cardona, Diego Piñon, and others.While living in Amsterdam Justin was a frequent guest teacher at the Amsterdam School for the Arts, the SNDO: School for New Dance Development (Amsterdam), Rotterdam Dance Academy, and ArtEZ (Arnhem).In 2014 Justin served as guest Professor of Dance in the Choreography department of K-Arts, Korea National University of Arts (KNUA), in Seoul.Justin leads lead workshops and classes in Contemporary Technique, Contact Improvisation, Instant Composition for Performance (Improvisation), Choreography and Yoga.
has worked as a performer with artists including Anna Halprin, Xavier Le Roy, Min Tanaka, l'agence touriste, inkBoat, Ko Murobushi, Grisha Coleman and Sara Shelton Mann. He is co-founder of dance collaborative Headmistress with Amara-Tabor Smith. Sherwood was a resident member of Tanaka's Mai Juku and has worked with Body Weather training since 1993, a movement research laboratory initiated by Tanaka and developed independently by exponents worldwide. He has lead classes and workshops internationally in spaces including Chez Bushwick, Independent Dance/Siobahn Davies Studios, UC Berkeley, ODC Dance Commons and Sala Crisantempo. He has been an artist in residence at ODC Theater San Francisco (2013-2015), Point Éphémère, Fazenda São João, Headlands Center for the Arts, The Dance Exchange and Cultural Exchange Station in Tábor.
Raoul Freitas Vale Germano (1984, NL)
is a broadly oriented artist being involved in visual arts, music and theatre since his youth. He started to dance at the Ginasiano Escola de Dança, Porto, Portugal in 2003 where he danced with Kale Companhia de Danca (PT). He gained a Msc degree in medicine in which he focusses on cardiac development. Raoul attended La-Roche Continents Arts/Science at the Salzburger-Festspiele and performed in projects with Random Collision, Involuntary Movement, La-Alternativa, Sara Shelton Mann, Karina Holla; and choreographed pieces with Bruno Isakovic and Miguel Fiol. Being a prominent improviser he performs and curates events collaborating with various international musicians and performance artists.
Zachary James Watkins
is a sound artist who has earned degrees in composition from The Cornish School and Mills College. Zachary has received numerous grants and commissions and presented works in festivals across the United States, Mexico and Germany. His 2006 composition Suite for String Quartet was awarded the Paul Merritt Henry Prize for Composition and has been performed as part of the 2nd Annual New Music Marathon in Seattle, WA the Labs 25th Anniversary Celebration and the Labor Sonor Series at Kule in Berlin. Zachary has enjoyed artist residencies at both the Espy Foundation and Djerassi. He currently teaches Electronic Music at UCSC.
Sara Shelton Mann – Choreographer, teacher, writer, consultant. Sara trained and performed with Alwin Nikolai and Murray Louis Companies, 1968-72, created a Modern company for Halifax Dance Co-Op 74-79, then moved to San Francisco in 1979 and developed the performance group “Contraband” touring from 1979-96. She collaborated with Guillermo Gomez-Pena 1996-2000. Since 2000 She has taught and created performance work internationally. Her awards include 6 Isadora Duncan Awards, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Gerbode Choreographer in Collaboration Award with David Szlasa, and CHIME, a project of Margaret Jenkins Company. Her training consists of: Movement Alchemy Level I, The Energetic Body, Deep Touch, Writing for Scenario and Advanced Practices. www.sarasheltonmann.org
Jesse Hewit is a dance artist living in San Francisco. His current projects include his own ADULT with Laura Arrington, Turbulence: (a dance about the economy) with Keith Hennessy and Circo Zero, and the Eye of Leo project with Sara Shelton Mann. Recent works have been seen at American Realness in New York, The Joe Goode Annex in San Francisco, PICA's TBA in Portland, Dock 11 in Berlin, and The Firkin Crane in Cork, Ireland, and recent works have been supported by MAP Fund and residencies from Headlands Center for the Arts and Ponderosa TanzLand.
